I want to make what you want to wear. Period. What you’ll roll out of bed and reach for in the morning, ‘cause it’s so damn easy / good / works / you love it.
For me, that means easy-to-layer staples with the right amount of design details. Not too complex, not too plain. Versatile for most of the places I go in a day. Sturdy, durable, comfortable. It's easy to wear convertible garments in warmer months, but for winter, I really find myself grabbing the staples that make me feel warm and confident.
But as this autumn's styles come to life, I need help.
We’ve hosted four votes here at Seamly.co, but in recent months, I’ve dropped most of our voting activity. Instead, I've been preparing for what's going to be an exciting next chapter around here...
Tomorrow, I’m launching a new vote via your inbox. It'll be just a *little* different from before:
1) You’ll get to see the new designs for fall (yes!) and give your feedback on cut, length, color, everything. It takes 5 minutes. (Oh, and I’ll send you a $5 gift certificate for your time.)
2) I’ll take your feedback to heart, re-design, and source fabric based on your suggestions. I'll come back with photo samples of our crowdsourced designs and final color options.
3) You can pre-order!
At that point, you can pre-order and get updates on production - photos, videos, everything behind-the-scenes. You can cancel your order anytime in the process (no hard feelings!).
Pre-sales mean that (finally) I can make enough for everyone who’s interested.
This system will ensure that there are enough colors and sizes made, especially for bigger production runs that I might otherwise not be able to afford (hence so many sold out styles lately!). I really, really like the idea of voting and pre-selling popular styles. I am a BIG fan of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding, because it means that you get what you want, with less waste, less time, and fewer costs passed on in the final price.
It’s a win-win-win.
I’m excited to be working on something together, in an organized way that I feel confident about — and that will ensure you have some American-made goods to roll out of bed and throw on with a smile this fall.
